The Socio-Environmental Report is a primary source of information for Costa Crociere’s stakeholders and illustrates not only the company’s economic and environmental performance, but also its underlying principles and goals, and the way they have been translated into operational and management decisions. 

For the second year running, we have chosen to supplement our traditional annual report with this document, in order to offer transparent, comprehensive information on the effects that the company’s activities have on the environment, community and all the stakeholders in general. 

The B.E.S.T. 4 Integrated Management System has allowed us to achieve even greater equilibrium between company performance, social development and environmental quality. The 2006 edition of the Social Environmental Report testifies to the further improvement of our services and the company’s social and environmental impact. We have also enhanced our capacity to listen to, dialogue with and involve all our contacts, and improved safety and security on board our ships and in our onshore offices. 

In terms of business performance, the document confirms our leadership of the cruise market, where Costa is an increasingly international player with a fleet of 12 ships that has carried over 1,000,000 passengers in 2007.

With a view to improving the dialogue with our stakeholders, the Socio-Environmental Report 2006 also contains a questionnaire that can be filled out online, which will provide us with valuable information for compiling the next edition of the document.
